Proportion of COVID-19 among U.S. men outpacing those in women

A new analysis by Global Health 50/50, an initiative to advance gender equality in global health, sheds light on sex disparities in COVID-19 deaths.

According to the organization’s COVID-19 Sex-Disaggregated Data Tracker, for every 10 deaths among confirmed COVID-19 cases in women, there are 13 in men. This disproportion is occurring despite females making up a majority (51.7%) of confirmed cases in the U.S.

The analysis is based on 5,249,876 confirmed, sex-disaggregated cases, of which there were 194,087 deaths.
